Speaking on The Big Interview with Graham Hunter, Olivier Giroud has responded after being asked about playing for Liverpool.

Giroud had a brilliant Premier League career with both Arsenal and Chelsea, but he was asked by Hunter about playing for Liverpool.

The World Cup winner says that there had never been any interest shown in him from Anfield, but he claims that he loves the stadium and the fans, stating that any player would jump at the chance to play for the Reds.

What’s been said?

Giroud was asked if there was ever any interest in him from Liverpool or if he’d have been keen to make the move.

“Well, them to me? I don’t think so, but I have to say that Liverpool have an amazing stadium and amazing fans. What player wouldn’t want to play for them? They became European Champions League winners, they won the league, they have a great manager,” Giroud said.

Could do worse

This is very interesting to hear, and to be honest, Liverpool could do a lot worse than signing Giroud in January.

Think about it, the Reds will be losing Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the African Cup of Nations, and they’ll need some extra firepower up top.

Of course, Giroud isn’t a Salah or a Mane, but if Diogo Jota moves out to the wing and Roberto Firmino plays a slightly deeper role, Giroud could be a good option to spearhead the attack.

The interest is certainly there from the Frenchman, so perhaps this is one Jurgen Klopp may want to look at even if it’s only a short-term fix.
