Wrexham are still paying Paul Mullin despite the centre-forward leaving the Racecourse Ground in May.

Phil Parkinson explained why he dropped Paul Mullin from the Wrexham squad before the striker went out on loan over the summer.

The 30-year-old didn’t move far, joining League One side Wigan Athletic on loan for the full 2025/26 season.

Mullin is playing regularly for Wigan, who are paying half of his wages during the loan spell. Here’s how much he’s earned so far this season.

What Wrexham have spent on Paul Mullin this season

Mullin’s move to Wigan was made official on June 23, 2025. Shortly after he left, the terms of his loan agreement were revealed. It was reported that Wrexham were covering half of his wages, with Wigan taking care of the other half.

Mullin is earning £5,800 per week on a contract that runs through to June 2027. That leaves Wrexham paying him £2,400 a week during this loan spell.

Between his departure and October 7, about 15 weeks have gone by. In that time, Mullin has been paid just over £36,000 by the club.

Who is Wrexham’s highest-earning player?

Mullin was once among the highest earners at the club, but Wrexham’s rapid climb through the EFL has completely reshaped their pay structure.

Kieffer Moore joined from Sheffield United on August 5, 2025, in a deal worth £2 million. Since then, reports have emerged stating that Moore is now the top earner at Wrexham, pulling in £30,000 a week.

To put that into perspective, it’s almost as much as what Mullin has cost the club since his departure earlier in the summer.

Moore has now been with the team for nine weeks and has already earned £270,000 from Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s club.
