Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has shared what he said to his Ukraine international teammate Mykhailo Mudryk after he decided to move to Graham Potter’s Chelsea.
Zinchenko, who can also operate as a midfielder, has said that he personally wanted Mudryk to join Arsenal in the January transfer window, as he told The Daily Mail in an interview.
The Daily Mail have reported that Arsenal wanted to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk in the middle of the season.
However, it was Arsenal’s London and Premier League rivals Chelsea who were willing to pay the transfer fee that Shakhtar wanted, and the 22-year-old Ukraine international winger moved to Stamford Bridge instead.
Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko shares message to Mykhailo Mudryk after Chelsea transfer
Zinchenko said: “I told him: ‘It’s gone already, it doesn’t matter what you wanted, what the other guys wanted. Now you’re a Chelsea player, you signed a long-term contract and you have only one option, only one way: direct and forward’.”
The Arsenal star added: “Unfortunately he didn’t become an Arsenal player – as I wanted personally! – but it’s life.”

No looking back
In our view, Mykhailo Mudryk should not look back on not being able to join Arsenal and should look ahead to becoming a success at Chelsea.
Arsenal themselves should not worry about missing out on the Ukrainian and should move on.
The Gunners signed Leandro Trossard in January after missing out on Mudryk, and the Belgian has done well for Arsenal, who could end up winning the Premier League title this season.
As for Mudryk, things are not going particularly well for him at Chelsea, but we believe that the 22-year-old will eventually come good for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
