The Glasgow Rangers defender was already struggling for game time before the teenager broke through.

Lee Hodson has had to make do with a bit-part role for Rangers in recent months, with injuries and competition for places both impacting his progress. But what does the emergence of fellow full-back Myles Beerman mean for his long-term future at the club?
Hodson has featured just nine times in the league for the Gers, and given the presence of James Tavernier and the promotion of Beerman to first-team duties, things do not look too bright for the 25-year-old.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha will no doubt want to run the rule over most of his players this summer, but he will have already made his mind up about one or two and the emergence of Beerman should not be understated.
The 18-year-old has slotted seamlessly into the Gers’ back-line, and while he still has a lot to learn he will only do that by playing regularly.

Beerman has been playing at left-back under Caixinha, but his natural position is on the opposite flank and it will be interesting to see how things play out for him at Ibrox.
Hodson was once seen as an able deputy, but if Caixinha brings in some new faces this summer he could quickly fall further down the pecking order.
He has plenty to offer the right club; only time will tell if that club is Rangers.
