Should Tottenham Hotspur sell Kevin Wimmer this summer?
The Sun reported on Friday that Tottenham Hotspur would sell defender Kevin Wimmer – if a £20 million offer was tabled.
The Austria centre-back found himself as Mauricio Pochettino’s fourth-choice option last season and played only five Premier League appearances.
Pochettino often used midfielder Eric Dier as a defender if Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld were unavailable.
The 24-year-old’s lack of action was rather surprising given how well he did in the 2015-16 campaign, partnering Alderweireld in defence and looking the part in the absence of Vertonghen.
Nevertheless, Tottenham, it seems, are willing to sell up if a £20 million offer comes in for him, and Spurs fans are divided over the speculation.
Pochettino, for whatever reason, does not rate the former Koln man, but he could and should gladly take £20 million for his services.
Wimmer looked very decent in those three months when he replaced Vertonghen, but he is untested over the course of an entire season and that sort of money would be a bargain.
Question is, who is going to pay it?
