Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah has been on loan at several Championship clubs during the past two seasons.
Tottenham Hotspur Josh Onomah has struggled to make that step-up and break into Mauricio Pochettino’s team in recent seasons as serious questions need to be asked about his future.
The 22-year-old is still in the early years of his career, but his recent loan spells in the Championship don’t bode well for his future in North London.
Onomah spent a season at Aston Villa, and most recently Sheffield Wednesday – on both occasions, he worked under Steve Bruce, but he hasn’t taken his game to the next level.
And amid talk that Tottenham are looking to bulk up their squad for the new season, especially their midfield area, Onomah’s future at White Hart Lane is surely fading by the minute.
Sky Sports recently reported that Tottenham will have to pay £70 million if they want to secure the signature of summer target and Real Betis midfielder Giovoni Lo Celso.
It is looking highly likely that Tottenham’s squad and midfielder area is going to be a lot stronger come the first game of the new season. Therefore, it’ll make it tougher for Onomah, who was once dubbed ‘one of the best’ of his generation by Moussa Dembele [SBNation], to break into Pochettino’s squad.
It seems as though Onomah is a forgotten man at Tottenham and it won’t be a surprise if he ends up making a permanent switch elsewhere.
He still has a lot of time to prove himself to the club and Pochettino has proven that he is willing to be patient with players – and just like Moussa Sissoko – anyone can turn their career around at White Hart Lane.
