Jason Tindall has become an internet sensation this week as Eddie Howe’s No.2 at Newcastle goes viral on social media.

A Twitter account – named Jason Tindall Desperate To Be The Centre Of Attention – made light of the Englishman’s unerring knack of finding the camera and hogging the limelight on the touchline.

Newcastle took on Leeds at Elland Road earlier on Saturday in their first game since Jason Tindall went viral, and the travelling fans had a chant for the 45-year-old.

Jason Tindall an overnight sensation at Newcastle

Well, as Howe’s assistant coached the Newcastle XI through their warmup at Elland Road, chants of “there’s only one Jason Tindall” could be heard coming from the away end.

Before kick-off, even the likes of BT Sport and the BBC got involved in the joke, posting photos of the Mile End-born coach on their Twitter accounts.

Howe has even been asked about Tindall’s heavy involvement on the touchline, in which he often shakes hand with the opposition manager first and is constantly in the fourth official’s ear.

The 45-year-old told CBS Sports: “That’s something we’ve not ever talked about really. We’re both really active on the sidelines and I’ve encouraged Jason to be that way.

“We were very much a partnership when we both started in management. I think we’re situated together on the front there and at the end of the game he naturally makes his way over (to the opposition manager) because he’s usually to my left. He’s a great guy and he’s been brilliant for me this year.”

To expand on Tindall’s touchline antics, there have been some hilarious incidents – as detailed by The Athletic.

The 45-year-old received a yellow card earlier this season for kicking a ball onto the pitch to prevent Arsenal from taking a quick throw-in, while he also attempted to convince the fourth official that Fulham had an extra player on the pitch when they didn’t.

While that may annoy some in the Premier League, Newcastle fans seem to love Tindall – a suggestion reinforced by their chant at Elland Road earlier on Saturday.
