The Wales international has been forgotten about amidst the Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius debate.

There has been a lot of talk lately surrounding the goalkeeping situation at Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp made the bold call of dropping Simon Mignolet for Loris Karius for last weekend’s stunning win over Manchester City, causing the Belgian to consider his future at Anfield, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The two have been rotated since Karius’ arrival from Mainz in 2016 but neither have shown the authority or consistency to make the number-one spot their own, and the position continues to be a concern for the Reds.

The Times understands that Klopp aims to solve this dilemma by buying a goalkeeper in the summer and that Roma’s Alisson is a target, although the club’s supporters seem to favour a move for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
The forgotten name in this equation is Danny Ward, Liverpool’s third-choice goalkeeper who was once tipped to come through the ranks on Merseyside, but has not been given a first-team run despite others fluffing their lines.
Ward made his Premier League debut for Liverpool in 2016 before enjoying an impressive loan at Huddersfield Town, where he was a key figure in their promotion campaign, but has only made one first-team appearance this term.

It seems unlikely that the Reds will sell both Mignolet and Karius at the end of the season, so the arrival of a new stopper would leave Ward stuck as third choice, which is not where he will want to be approaching his 25th birthday.
The Welshman will have ambitions to usurp Wayne Hennessey as his country’s first-choice goalkeeper and to do that must play regular football, but it now seems as though Klopp is planning for the future at Liverpool without him.
Ward is likely to be frustrated at being the only goalkeeper not to get multiple opportunities to prove themselves at Anfield, and will surely now want to find a new club where he is not going to be treated as an afterthought.
