Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has not given up on beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to the Premier League title this season, according to a report.

The Gunners suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of defending champions Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.

Arsenal remain at the top of the table with 75 points from 33 matches.

City, though, have the clear advantage in the title race now.

The Citizens are second with 73 points from 31 games.

Guardiola’s side have two games in hand.

However, despite the setback, Arsenal manager Arteta is reportedly determined to win the title and believes that all is not lose.

Mikel Arteta attitude after Arsenal defeat to Manchester City

The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney has written in the Reading the Game newsletter (1:01pm, April 28, 2023) that Arteta has privately maintained that Arsenal can do it.

Delaney wrote: “The Arsenal squad were naturally deflated after the nature of Wednesday’s defeat, but Mikel Arteta maintained the same attitude he has throughout: that it’s not over, that they need to be mindful of how good they have been.

“It has worked for most of this season. It worked after last season’s collapse. The wonder is whether it can have any effect now. The way that match ended was the image of a team who knew.

“None of that is necessarily to fault Arteta, even if you can ask questions about his set-up. A young and relatively thin Arsenal squad just look like they are running out of steam, as Manchester City just pick up. Chelsea on Tuesday will tell so much.”

HITC Verdict: There could be twists in Premier League title race

Yes, Manchester City are the clear favourites for the Premier League title now.

After all, City have the best and strongest squad in England.

And they are on a roll.

However, City have dropped points this season, and there is no reason believe that they will not.

And Arsenal need to be ready for that.

The Gunners simply cannot afford any slip-ups and have to win their remaining Premier League games.
