It lasted only 12 months, but Chelsea will now begin another chapter under their new-look and marmite-like ownership.

The Mauricio Pochettino era was a strange one for all involved.

On one hand, there were sections of the Chelsea fanbase, and you could probably argue a majority, who didn’t want the ex-Tottenham boss in their dugout in the first place.

But after watching his work and witnessing the team end the 2023/24 Premier League season strongly, some of them changed their minds and didn’t want him to leave.

In the end, Pochettino’s exit shocked many, but it doesn’t seem as though it has affected him that much, probably because he ended on a high and went out on his terms.

Chelsea won their last five Premier League matches and ended the season in sixth place.

Normally, that’s Europa League football. But Manchester United’s shock FA Cup final win over Manchester City means that the London club will be playing Conference League football next term.

But nearly two weeks after leaving Stamford Bridge, Pochettino seems to be enjoying himself and making use of the sun, as you can see on Twitter or his Instagram story.

Enzo Maresca to replace Mauricio Pochettino

It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but Enzo Maresca is going to be Chelsea’s new manager.

Sources have told HITC that Chelsea have agreed terms with Maresca to replace Pochettino, after he guided Leicester City back to the Premier League by winning the Championship outright.

Only 12 months ago, Maresca was sat beside Pep Guardiola as Manchester City were winning the Treble and he had zero experience as a first-team coach under his belt.

All of that has now flipped on its head because he is going to be walking into a real pressure cooker of a job and one that could see him booted out pretty quickly if things go wrong.
