Matthew McConaughey has been able to find one serious worry following Folarin Balogun’s suspension being overturned.

The USMNT take on Belgium on Monday in Seattle as they look to book their spot in the quarter-finals.

Mauricio Pochettino looked set to be without his star striker, but an unprecedented decision by FIFA has provided him with the luxury of selecting Balogun.

Even President Donald Trump has been involved in Balogun’s red card overturn, with the President of the United States personally thanking FIFA for their U-turn.

FIFA have suspended Folarin Balogun's red card ban for one year, meaning he will be available for USA vs Belgium! 😯 What's your reaction to the decision?

It is a decision which has shaken the soccer community ahead of Monday’s game at Lumen Field.

The drama has caused such a stir that Oscar-winning actor McConaughey has shared one major concern.

Matthew McConaughey worried about Folarin Balogun debacle proving a distraction

It has been suggested that Belgium have appealed Balogun’s suspension being reversed, which only highlights the mess this saga is becoming.

As the drama rumbles on in the background, McConaughey has admitted he’s worried it could become an unwelcome distraction for the USMNT heading into the game in the Pacific North West.

The USA have reached the round of 16 but will be without talisman Folarin Balogun after his red card. Who steps up in his absence? 🤷‍♂️

Balogun is the USA's top scorer with three goals ⚽⚽⚽

“Don’t like the distractive Balogun narrative taking the headlines – gotta lock in to offensive mind peak perf no matter,” he said on X.

It is a valid point that McConaughey is making, as Pochettino’s focus has now been forced to change with the unexpected addition of Balogun to his squad.

Having Balogun available will be a big boost, given he has scored three in three games at the World Cup, but it remains uncertain as to whether that may now still be the case.

Some nervous hours await the USMNT ahead of the game against Belgium.
