Robert MacIntyre endured a torrid day on the course on Thursday as he succumbed to a first round 80 at The Masters.

MacIntyre began his first round at Augusta National reasonably well before the wheels came off with a double bogey on nine and then a quadruple bogey on 15.

The 29-year-old Scot finished his round with two pars and a bogey and eventually signed for an 80 on day one of The Masters.

However, MacIntyre‘s behavior on during his opening round at The Masters has been heavily criticized.

The two-time PGA Tour winner cut a seriously frustrated figure out on the golf course at Augusta National as his day continued to go from bad to worse.

Golf fans ripped into MacIntyre’s angry outbursts on day one of The Masters, with some suggesting that the European Ryder Cup player should be disqualified from the tournament.

What Masters organizers may do after Robert MacIntyre’s behavior

MacIntyre flipped up his middle finger to the cameras after finding the water with his second shot on the 15th hole.

He also smashed the ground with his club in anger on both the 14th and 17th holes.

It really wasn’t acceptable behavior from the man from Oban, Scotland, especially given the fact that so many young children would have been watching.

Now ESPN are claiming that the Augusta board ‘are likely to take a dim view of the behavior and MacIntyre could face further trouble’.

Quite what the punishment would be remains to be seen. Perhaps the 29-year-old will just receive a dressing down and be warned about his future conduct.

The Augusta National hierarchy do not take kindly to such flagrant displays of disrespect.

Robert MacIntyre must address his anger issue

MacIntyre will be extremely lucky to escape any kind of punishment after his actions during his first round at Augusta.

He has to learn that he simply can’t act like he did on Thursday at any golf course, let alone at Augusta National.

MacIntyre is naturally fiery, so his behavior on day one at The Masters didn’t really come as a surprise to anyone.

However, that doesn’t mean that he will be excused, and his behavior will certainly not have gone unnoticed by the Augusta National hierarchy.

It’s fine for MacIntyre to run hot every now and again. His passionate personality is one of the main reasons why he has reached the highest level of the game.

The Scot crossed a line on Thursday, though, and he cannot allow that to happen again.
