Leeds and Kalvin Phillips were on the mind of Manchester United fans earlier today as they recorded a 2-1 win over Manchester City.

The Old Trafford faithful decided to poke fun at Leeds and the England international – an academy graduate from Elland Road – as they moved up to third in the Premier League, while Jesse Marsch finds himself battling relegation.

What’s the story?

Well, Manchester United supporters could be heard chanting the classic “Leeds are falling apart again” song after the White suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday evening.

While Phillips was warming up on the Old Trafford touchline, fans could also be heard mocking the 27-year-old’s weight in reference to Pep Guardiola revealing that the midfield maestro returned from Qatar overweight.

Unfortunately for those of you wanting to know the details of that chant, we are unable to repeat it – however, you can find out exactly what was said by hopping onto Twitter and searching for the latest on Phillips.

It is a difficult time for Leeds fans right now, and they will not have appreciated supporters of their bitter rivals rubbing salt in the wounds earlier today.

After Friday evening’s defeat at Villa Park, Leeds now sit one point above the relegation zone following a dreadful run of just four wins in 18 Premier League games this season.

Manchester United mockery must be a wake up call for Leeds

Manchester United fans have actually given Marsch a helping hand – if he is wise enough to use it.

The American should have audio of Manchester United supporters singing “Leeds are falling apart” ringing around Thorp Arch before his next training session, in an attempt to fire up his underperforming players.

Leeds have more than enough quality to stay in the Premier League, although some players need to show a bit more desire if they are to overturn their current situation.
