Manchester City strolled to a 3-0 win over Wolves at Molineux earlier today, as Erling Haaland scored yet another goal in the Premier League.
The Norway international doubled Manchester City’s lead after an early strike from Jack Grealish, driving a low effort into the bottom left corner – he now has 11 goals in just seven Premier League appearances.
That is more than most Premier League clubs have managed to score, including Wolves – Manchester City fans certainly let the home support at Molineux know about it.
What’s the story?
Well, cries of “Erling Haaland, he’s scored more than you” could be heard coming from the away section at Molineux earlier today.
Rather worryingly, Wolves have only scored three goals in seven Premier League games so far this season, and they now sit 16th in the table after suffering defeat to the Citizens.
Of course, Bruno Lage doesn’t need the Manchester City supporters to highlight where his side’s problems lie in the form of taunts, although hopefully it will act as a wake-up call for Wolves. They must score more goals.
In fairness to Wolves, they aren’t the only side to be outscored by the Manchester City No.9 this season – far from it.
Haaland’s tally of 11 is more than Leeds, Chelsea, Leicester, Manchester United, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Everton and West Ham have scored.
To put it simply, the 22-year-old has enjoyed a ridiculous start to life in the Premier League.
Wolves must forget Manchester City loss quickly
There is no shame in losing 3-0 to this Manchester City side, although Wolves must get it out of their minds quickly.
Of course, Lage will have to overturn this dry spell in front of goal without the protection provided by Nathan Collins in defence, with the Republic of Ireland international now set to miss three games following today’s red card.
Nevertheless, it’s a chance for someone else to step up for Wolves, at a time where they seemingly need someone to inspire them.
