Leicester City signed the centre-back from Hull City this summer and he has wasted little time making his mark.

When Leicester City signed Harry Maguire from Hull City for £17million (as reported by the BBC) it was hailed as a masterstroke by those who had been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old’s development.

In an inflated transfer market, where average players command ridiculous fees, Maguire was signed for relative pennies and he is already proving to Foxes fans what all the fuss is about.

But while some Leicester fans will have been well aware of Maguire’s potential from his time at the Tigers, they are now seeing what he can do first hand and it is no exaggeration to say he could be the best defensive signing of the summer.

Strong, confident on the ball, a threat at the opposite end of the field and years away from his peak, Maguire has settled in quickly at Leicester and will be delighted to get off the mark with a goal against Burton Albion earlier this week.

The problem for Leicester, for now at least, is that their forwards are not following Maguire’s lead and finding the opposition net. However when it comes to keeping them out, the centre-back should continue his already impressive development at the King Power Stadium.

Maguire has everything in his locker to be a star for club and country and he has shown glimpses of that this summer.

In time he should be the first name on the Leicester team sheet and that £17million will look even cheaper than it does now.
