Liverpool have been tentatively linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain hitman Kylian Mbappe in recent months.
According to journalist Duncan Castles, Liverpool is one destination that Mbappe would favour if he leaves the French capital, where is contracted to until 2022.
The 22-year-old is arguably the world’s finest young player but, interestingly enough, Mbappe reserved that exact label for another player linked with a switch to Anfield.
Calciomercato reported last week that the Reds were also keen on signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
Dembele joined the Spanish giants in a £135 million deal in 2017 [BBC Sport] but his progress has stifled in recent years due to injury.
But there’s no denying that he’s a huge talent, evident by his price tag, and Mbappe said in 2018 that he was the game’s best youngster.
The France international said of his international team-mate: “I’ve always wanted to play with great players. I have two top players [next to me]: Antoine, top 10; Ousmane, the best young player in the world, for me.”
Even at that time, Mbappe would’ve been forgiven for saying that he was the sport’s most promising young player and he has certainly lived up to that billing.
Still only 23, Dembele remains a massive player in football and perhaps a move to Liverpool, working under Jurgen Klopp, could help him reach similar levels as Mbappe.
