Kevin Durant now holds the longest active streak of scoring 10+ points in a game, but he has a massive task to match LeBron James.

Last night, one of the longest active streaks in the NBA world was broken, as LeBron James failed to score 10 points against the Toronto Raptors.

Prior to the game, LeBron held the record for the most consecutive games with 10 or more points with 1297. Now that honor belongs to Kevin Durant, but he is nowhere close to the King’s record.

With LeBron James’ streak of 10+ points in a game coming to an end at 1297 games, Kevin Durant now holds the longest active streak.

Durant has scored 10 or more points in 267 games in a row, starting all the way in April 2021. In order to match LeBron James’ record, Durant would have to play 82 games for nearly 12 seasons.

This would mean that Durant would have to play over 900 games just to come close to matching the record.

Given that Durant is 37 years old, injury-prone, and near the end of his career, it would be virtually impossible for him to match this record.

LeBron James’ longevity becomes clearer with every game he plays

This streak ending is yet another example of just how ludicrous LeBron James’ longevity is. To put into context, James’ streak lasted 18 years.

That is longer than the entirety of Michael Jordan’s career. Jordan played 13 seasons in the NBA, while LeBron’s streak lasted 17 seasons.

It’s hard to fathom in real time just how special LeBron has been the last 10 years. Most players in NBA history usually decline into role player status by the time they cross the age of 35.

However, LeBron has been putting up some of the best numbers of his career well into his late 30s, and even won an NBA championship.

There will never be another LeBron James, so enjoy his time in the NBA while it still lasts.
