Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shared what midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai told him just before the Merseyside derby against Sean Dyche’s Everton.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool got the better of Sean Dyche’s Everton 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah scored both goals for Liverpool.
It was a controversial game.
Ibrahima Konate was lucky not to be sent off for Liverpool in the second half.
There were also doubts about the penalty that was awarded to the Reds.
Dominik Szoboszlai has been playing well for Liverpool this season following his move in the summer transfer window.
The Hungary international midfielder started the Merseyside derby.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Dominik Szoboszlai
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has said that he was surprised by what Szoboszlai told him just before kickoff.
Liverpool’s official website quotes Klopp as saying about Szoboszlai: “When we had the finishing in the warm-up Dom told me, ‘I actually never played a derby before.’

“‘What do you mean?’
“‘Salzburg don’t have a derby, Leipzig don’t have a derby, Hungary has maybe a derby but the countries who would be a derby, we never played since I played international football.’
“‘OK, good, no problem, you give always 100 per cent so you are ready for the game’.”
Dominik Szoboszlai played well for Liverpool vs Everton
In my opinion, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai played well against Everton in the Merseyside derby.
Although Szoboszlai did not start the game strongly and was rather quiet, he grew as the match went on.
The Hungarian star started to come alive before half time.
Szoboszlai stepped up his game in the second half and should be pleased with how he played overall.
During his time on the pitch at Anfield, the Liverpool midfielder took five shots but none of them was on target, played four key passes, had a pass accuracy of 92.7%, took 107 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle and one clearance, and put in six crosses.
