Aston Villa have a problem when it comes to their wide positions.

When Albert Adomah was not starting for Aston Villa there were calls for Steve Bruce to give him a chance, but when the 29-year-old does kick off a game he almost invariably disappoints.
When Birkir Bjarnason signed for Villa it was hailed as another canny signing in a month full of them, but the Iceland international has featured twice on the wing for Villa to date and looked woefully short of form on both occasions.
Most disappointingly, teenager Andre Green was restored to the starting line-up for Villa’s weekend clash with Derby County, but despite Bruce’s men picking up a much needed win, the 18-year-old was one of their most disappointing players.
And don’t get us started on Jack Grealish!
So what is it about Villa’s wide men? And more importantly, can Bruce fix the issue and ensure the club start moving up the table as a consequence?

There is no doubt all Villa’s players have under-performed this season. However their wingers have flattered to deceive time and again and even when the manager changes things up, nothing actually changes.
He can still get things right and the victory against Derby gives him time and a little less pressure, but until the creative catalysts at Villa’s disposal actually start creating on a consistent basis, the wins will not come easy.
