It was almost as if he knew Celtic were watching. Perhaps he did.

Because, just a day after Shon Weissman was linked with a life-changing move to the Scottish Premiership champions, one of the most prolific strikers in European football produced a moment of sublime quality that would make even Cristiano Ronaldo blush.

Re-adjusting his body in the blinking of an eye as a hopeful cross looped into the air, Weissman soared through the air to thump a jaw-dropping overhead kick into the top corner.

It wasn’t just the athleticism or the accuracy which caught the eye either – it was the sheer speed in which the ball rocketed into the back of the Sturm Graz net.

In total, the Wolfsberger talisman has 30 goal in all competitions this season – including 23 in 22 Austrian Bundesliga matches.

And with Celtic apparently identifying the £4.5 million-rated Israel international as a potential replacement for Odsonne Edouard, according to the Telegraph, it’s fair to say Weissman has done his chances of a move to Glasgow no harm whatsoever with a surefire Goal of the Season contender.

“If it works, it works. We have a crazy guy up front!” Wolfsberger team-mate Michael Liendl tells Sky, clearly bemused by what he had just witnessed.

“I thought: ‘what is he doing?’! He does things where I think he could solve the problem more easily. If I fall back (into an overhead kick), I would break everything.”

Weissman is not the tallest, nor the quickest. But, give him half a chance in the 18 yard box and bet against him at your peril.
