Andy Hinchcliffe has criticised Cristian Romero on Sky Sports after he shouted directly at Pablo Fornals during Tottenham Hotspur’s game with West Ham United yesterday.
Frustrations mount
Fornals had gone round Emerson twice, before Romero stepped in and landed a crunching tackle on the attacking midfielder.
Fornals went down, clutching his leg, but the Spurs centre-back did not take kindly to his reaction.
Romero proceeded to stand over the playmaker, which sparked players from both sides to come rushing over.
It was a rather strange incident, in a game which had been lacking any sort of spark up until that point.
The Tottenham summer signing was ultimately booked for his reaction.
And Hinchcliffe, who was on co-commentary for Sky, was left baffled by his actions. He said: “I’m not sure what is going through Romero’s mind here.
“He’d won the challenge, he’d done everything right and then he just seems to overreact.”

Fornals has the last laugh
Romero’s actions may have actually back-fired on Tottenham in the end.
The incident raised the atmosphere at the London Stadium, and it wasn’t too long after that West Ham took the lead through Michail Antonio.
Antonio actually mentioned the incident in his post match interview, and said that it had provided injected a bit of life into the game.
Romero did otherwise have a solid game for Tottenham though, and the signs are that he could be an excellent addition to Nuno’s group in time.
