Ryan Mason has defended Daniel Levy and Tottenham Hotspur’s owners amid a planned protest against the club’s hierarchy tomorrow.

A lot of Spurs fans are planning to travel to the club’s stadium tomorrow to protest Levy and the ENIC Group which runs the North London club.

This comes on the back of Tottenham’s attempt to break away to join a European Super League which has now been suspended following monumental opposition to the proposal by Florentino Perez.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust rejected a meeting with Levy after calling on the long-serving chairman to resign and instead called for a sit down with owner Joe Lewis.

On and off the field this is a difficult time for the Lilywhites, who look set to miss out on Champions League qualification for a second year in succession.

Asked whether the protests will affect his players for Sunday’s clash with Wolves, Mason, Tottenham’s interim coach said via Football London: “What I will say – and what I said a few minutes ago – our chairman and our board have done incredibly for this football club in the last 10-15-20 years since they’ve been here.

“I know how fans see that, I know how fans respect that as well. The most important thing for me is the connection between fans, players and everyone involved in the football club. They’re entitled to their opinion, there’s also Wednesday next week when they can come and help and support the team.”

It is worth pointing out that the fact Tottenham were even included in the European Super League is a sign of their progress under Levy over the past couple of decades.

He has certainly helped Spurs – Champions League finalists in 2019 – in a massive way but it goes without saying that the ESL was also a huge oversight and one that the supporters won’t let him forget.
