Former Huddersfield Town and Leeds United coach Carlos Corberan admits he has unfinished business in the Championship as West Brom look for a Steve Bruce replacement, speaking to Sky Sports.

Of all the candidates currently linked with the vacant Baggies role, 39-year-old Corberan is perhaps the most intriguing.

After all, he’d arrive on the back of an outstanding spell at Huddersfield Town; turning an unfancied, unglamorous side into promotion contenders and play-off finalists.

He’s an excellent tactician, a master of adapting his game-plan to suit the opposition, and, as you might expect given that his cut his tactical teeth under Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road, a coach who demands blood, sweat and tears from every single one of his players.

No wonder many West Brom fans are clamouring for Corberan to replace a coach in Bruce who never looked like putting any sort of a stamp on a 22nd-place Albion side who, based on quality alone, should be challenging at the other end of the table.

Who will replace Steve Bruce as West Brom manager?

“For me, it is really important that the club makes the right decision about which coach they want. “Which style they want, what is the vision of the club,” Corberan explains. “For the coach, his decision is important to decide which is the right place to go.

“My job was not finished (at Huddersfield). When you are really close, when you are at Wembley and have 90 minutes to achieve something very important, when you finish the game, my feeling was clear; I want to come back and achieve.

“This is what I want. The feeling that I did not finish my job here in England. It was the aim to put a team in the Premier League (from) the Championship.”

Corberan resigned as head coach of Huddersfield in July. He is now looking for a new challenge after an 11-game spell at Olympiakos that was, even by their standards, remarkably brief.

“What we love to do is to coach. The worst moment for a coach is when you are without a team,” Corberan adds. “Because of the energy you can have to improve your players, to help your club, to develop their resources, to go to the game and make your fans feel proud of the team.

“The feeling you have when you achieve this is the best thing that you can feel.”

According to The Mirror, West Brom are likely to hold talks with Corberan. The similarly out-of-work Chris Wilder, Sean Dyche, Michael Carrick and Rob Edwards are also being mentioned.

Don’t rule out Millwall’s Gary Rowett either.
