Scottie Scheffler has enjoyed a stellar season on the PGA Tour by most players’ standards so far this year.
Scheffler has one win, three runner-up finishes and seven top-5s to his name in 11 PGA Tour starts in 2026.
By the standards of almost every other golfer in the world, that would represent a fantastic season.
However, anyone who has watched Scottie Scheffler this season will have noticed that he simply hasn’t been the same force as he has been over the past few years.
Brandel Chamblee labelled Scheffler’s swing as ‘unrecognizable’ back in March during The Players Championship.

And there have been definite signs that he doesn’t quite have the same control of his golf ball that he had last year.
However, the good news is that Scheffler’s swing seems to have massively improved ahead of The Memorial Tournament this week.

What I noticed about Scottie Scheffler’s swing on the range at The Memorial
Throughout the 2026 season so far, I have noticed some concerning signs when watching Scottie Scheffler in action.
Firstly, I will caveat that by saying his form has still been exceptional.
The world number one is currently sitting at the top of the FedEx Cup points list and that just goes to show that his ‘B’ game is truly exceptional.
However, he will obviously be keen to rediscover his ‘A’ game, and he may well be on track to do just that.
While watching Scottie Scheffler on the range at Muirfield Village on Tuesday ahead of the start of The Memorial, I noticed that his swing is much-improved from how it has looked throughout the season so far.
With the driver and the three-wood, Scheffler has had the tendency of over-swinging this season, with the shaft of his club moving well past parallel to the ground.
As a result, his club was pointing ‘across the line’, or to the right of his target in Layman’s terms.
You can see this perfectly in the image below:

The good news for Scheffler fans is that he seems to have got his club and indeed his swing path back in the slot this week at Muirfield Village.
Scottie Scheffler’s swing looks like the 2024 and 2025 version once again
You can see the changes he has made in full effect by watching the video below:
Scheffler’s swing is far more compact than it has been since the American Express in January, and as a result, his clubface is in a more neutral position at the top.
If he takes that move out onto the golf course, which is easier said than done, of course, it really wouldn’t surprise me one little bit to see him win comfortably this week.
At Muirfield Village, the key to success is hitting fairways and precise mid-long iron shots.
In his prime, there was nobody better than Scheffler at hitting long and straight drives and well-controlled irons from 175-200 yards out.
Nobody should be surprised if Scottie Scheffler not only wins the Memorial Tournament this week, but goes on to dominate for the remainder of the PGA Tour season.
