Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has expressed how happy he was to see Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back smiling against Leeds.

Aubameyang certainly had a lot of reason to be smiling over the weekend as he scored a hat trick at the Emirates as the Gunners got the better of Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The Gabonese forward has endured what has to be described as a difficult season so far, and Ferdinand says that he’s happy to see him back at his best.

“One thing I am happy about. I’ve got to be honest, I’m delighted that Aubameyang is back scoring goals,” Ferdinand said.

“That’s what I love to see his smile like that, and I haven’t seen it enough this season since he signed his new deal, so I’m happy that he’s back.”

We have to agree with Ferdinand on this one.

There are very few finer sights in football than seeing Aubameyang in full flow, and when he’s enjoying his football, he is a joy to watch.

Unfortunately, as Ferdinand says, we’ve not seen it enough this season, but a hat trick may be exactly what he needs to kickstart his campaign and hit the heights we all know he’s capable of reaching.

Arsenal may quickly find themselves climbing the table if Aubameyang is truly back to his best.
