Guillem Balague has given his take on Liverpool’s reported interest in Thiago Alcantara on his YouTube channel.

The well-known Spanish football journalist, who works for BBC Sport among others, has said that there is no agreement between Liverpool and the Bayern Munich central midfielder.

Balague has disclosed what he has been told about the situation regarding Liverpool and the 29-year-old.

Earlier this month, The Mirror reported of interest in Thiago from Premier League champions Liverpool.

Balague said on his YouTube channel: “What I am hearing is there is no four-year deal with Thiago in place, not yet. It hasn’t happened. They are not in a rush to agree on this yet.

“Basically it’s just a matter of admitting that Thiago is available and be well-positioned if something happens. That’s what I am hearing the situation is.

“He may end up moving to Liverpool, but right now what I have been told is Thiago is not about to sign for Liverpool and there hasn’t been an agreement on a four-year deal with him, not yet.”

Liverpool transfer this summer?

Given that Bayern have been involved in the knockout stages of the Champions League this season and will play against Paris Saint-Germain in the final on Sunday evening, it is very unlikely that Thiago would have agreed on a contract with Liverpool.

After all, the former Barcelona star is an important player for Bayern, and he will be focused on the task at hand.

However, one suspects that after tonight’s game, things could move quickly, as Liverpool are already in pre-season and will start the new campaign next month.

It would make sense for the Reds to get the deal to sign Thiago done soon so that the central midfielder can prepare himself.
