England have a date with destiny at Wembley tonight.
The Three Lions have a huge chance to end 55 years of hurt when they take on Italy in the final of Euro 2021.
This is a nation who hasn’t won a major competition since the World Cup of 1966 and suffice to say that Gareth Southgate’s side will be well-supported tonight.
Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has glittered off the bench on a number of occasions throughout the competition.
In fact, Grealish is the most-fouled English player in the tournament.
That was also the case in the Premier League last season, evident by his heavily-bandaged hand.
Grealish uploaded a photo on Twitter yesterday and in it he can be seen to be carrying the same thumb injury that he suffered against Tottenham toward the end of last season.
Here’s how some England fans responded to the 25-year-old’s tweet:
Is Grealish starting?
Well, the Aston Villa star, linked with a £100 million move to Manchester City, would love to make the first XI.
But it seems probable that Southgate will keep him in reserve.
This is a player who wins a lot of fouls for club and country, illustrating that opposition players quite frequently just can’t deal with him.
And that’s exactly the sort of player you want to bring on for the final 25 minutes if you’re chasing the game.
There’s a reason why Villa value him at £100 million and it’s because he’s a frightening talent and one who can – and does – change games.
