Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to Matteo Guendouzi’s latest performance.
Guendouzi has proven himself a revelation since leaving Arsenal to join Marseille on a season-long loan.
And the French midfielder impressed again tonight as the Ligue 1 won 1-0 away to Clermont Foot.
It was Guendouzi – a £7 million signing by the Gunners in 2019 – who set up Cengiz Under’s decisive winner in the first half.
And here’s how some Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to his performance:
Big showing
According to the statistics, it was a big game from the 22-year-old Arsenal loanee.
During his 90 minutes on the field, Guendouzi set up three goalscoring chances for Marseille [WhoScored].
The former Lorient starlet also clocked a passing success rate of 88 percent, which isn’t unbelievable but it isn’t poor either.
Still, it doesn’t seem to matter what Guendouzi does in France because, well, his Arsenal career is already done.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta didn’t rule out the prospect of him returning to North London next summer for good.
Thing is, it was widely reported at the time of his departure that the French outfit have an obligation to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Guendouzi’s attitude didn’t sit well with Arteta and he hasn’t played for Arsenal since the second game of Project Restart in summer of 2020, after goading Neal Maupay about his wage packet compared to his.
It’s a shame because on his day, this is one hell of a player and one who’ll get a lot better.
But he has seemingly crossed the Arsenal boss and with Arteta being a disciplinarian, there’s no way back at the Emirates.
