‘What have I done?’: BBC pundit thinks £12m star will wish he was at Tottenham now

Jermaine Jenas has told BBC Sport that Christian Eriksen may be seriously regretting his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur now.

Eriksen opted to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window, after refusing to pen a new deal with the club.

The Danish playmaker moved to Inter Milan, but his time with the Serie A outfit has not gone according to plan.

Eriksen has been unable to force his way into Antonio Conte’s side, and there is already talk that he could leave in the new year now for just £12 million, ESPN claim.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League.

And Jenas believes that Eriksen may be gutted that he is missing out making a push for the title with Spurs.

“You could tell on the Amazon documentary Mourinho wasn’t too keen on the idea [of selling Eriksen], but look how that has worked out,” Jenas said.

“Spurs don’t appear to be missing the Danish midfielder, while Eriksen must be watching from afar thinking ‘what have I done?’ because Mourinho is getting the best out of so many of his old team-mates.”

Tottenham never actually did replace Eriksen’s directly, but they have compensated for the loss of his creativity by adapting their tactics.

Harry Kane is now tasked with dropping into deeper spaces to forge openings for his teammates and the England captain has thrived, with 10 assists to his name already this season.
