All of a sudden, Arsenal might be considering themselves lucky that they didn’t wind up signing Dusan Vlahovic.

Okay so that might be a bit of a stretch, considering he’s still only 22 and arguably one of the world’s most exciting young hitmen.

However, the Serbian marksman, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina for £66 million in January, is definitely beginning to struggle in Turin after the Gunners reportedly tried to sign him.

Vlahovic’s latest performance for Juve has taken a hammering by Italian media.

He played 78 minutes in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, but the game passed him by entirely.

Vlahovic, who had long been on Arsenal’s radar, only managed 28 touches throughout his time on the field [WhoScored] and miscontrolled the ball on seven occasions, more than any other player on the field.

Gazzetta offered a damning indictment of his performance.

In the headline, the words ‘What happened to you?’ were written about Vlahovic, who was given a 5/10 for his performance.

it got even worse, with the Italian publication writing: “Where did Vlahovic go? Could he have suddenly forgotten how to play the center forward? Certainly the latest performances have been worrying, between frantic movements, blatant falls without being fouled and a couple of bad or not successful shots, suggesting a technical involution.”

He has still netted seven goals overall since joining Massimiliano Allegri’s side, which isn’t an awful return, but it promised much more.

That’s because during the first half of the campaign, the towering striker netted 17 Serie A goals for Fiorentina – and another 21 for the same club last season.

There’s definitely still time for the reported Arsenal target to show those in North London what they’re missing but, for the moment, there isn’t any real indication that the Gunners will be crying about what could’ve been.
