Jordan Shipley’s family confirms accident and medical update

The update was shared in a statement posted on Twitter. “Jordan was involved in an accident this afternoon near his hometown of Burnet.

“The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire, and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body in the process,” the statement read.

“He was able to get to one of his workers on the ranch, who drove him to a local hospital. He was then care-flighted to Austin, where he remains in critical but stable condition,” the family added.

Shipley’s family expressed gratitude to the medical staff treating him and thanked supporters for their concern. Doctors remain hopeful about his recovery, though his injuries are significant.

Jordan Shipley’s football career

Jordan Shipley rose to prominence at the University of Texas, where he became one of the most productive wide receivers in school history.

Under coach Mack Brown, he formed a strong connection with quarterback Colt McCoy, helping the Longhorns reach the top tier of college football in the late 2000s.

He finished his college career with 248 receptions, 3,191 receiving yards, and 33 touchdowns, ranking among Texas’ all-time leaders. His consistency and reliability made him a fan favorite across the state.

Shipley was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He showed promise as a rookie, catching 52 passes for 600 yards and three touchdowns.

However, injuries limited his professional career, leading to short spells with Tampa Bay and Jacksonville before retiring in 2014.

After football, Shipley stayed connected to the sport through broadcasting and speaking engagements. Known for his humility and good humor, he remained a respected figure in Texas sports circles.
