Greg Norman is in the news once again right now, mostly for his scathing criticism of Sir Nick Faldo.

However, Norman also lifted the lid on the time when former US President Bill Clinton reached out to him, looking for some help for Tiger Woods.

The 71-year-old Australian is a hugely divisive character in the game.

Greg Norman caused yet more controversy back in 2022 when he played a leading role in the inception of the LIV Golf League.

In fact, Tiger Woods was one of the most outspoken critics of LIV Golf.

The 15-time major champion was always a huge admirer of Norman, but that didn’t stop him from sounding off about LIV.

However, it was Norman who Bill Clinton turned to when Tiger Woods really needed some help.

Bill Clinton once asked Greg Norman to help Tiger Woods

Clinton is close friends with Woods, and at an unspecified time, he asked Norman to lend a helping hand to the 50-year-old.

Tiger Woods was arrested 12 days ago for DUI, and the same happened back in 2021.

Greg Norman has been speaking to The Telegraph in the UK about the controversies he has been involved in over the past few years.

However, he veered off topic for a while and revealed that Bill Clinton once phoned him asking if he would be able to help Woods.

“I told him I wasn’t his mate, so I couldn’t,” Norman said.

Norman is nothing if he is not a straight-shooter. He certainly isn’t a people pleaser and fair play to him for telling Clinton straight that he was in no position to help Tiger.

One of the main problems Tiger Woods has is that he doesn’t have enough people close to him who genuinely care about his well-being.

As is often the case with super-wealthy famous people, the 50-year-old most probably has a lot of hangers-on around him.

That needs to change moving forward, if he is to beat his demons.

The irony of all of this is that Tiger Woods could actually do with a straight-talker like Greg Norman telling him some home truths.

He has the added bonus that he was a huge star in his heyday, so he would be able to relate to some of the pressure that Woods is under.

However, as far as Woods’ problem with prescription painkillers goes, that is very much a battle he will have to meet head on himself.
