The Slovenian is now back playing in English football at Leyton Orient.
With the arrival of Massimo Cellino as the new owner of Leeds United plenty of Italian based takents soon started coming in at Elland Road.
One such player was Slovenian talent Zan Benedicic. The midfielder arrived from Milan with a big reputation as one of the best talents from his country and Leeds fans had high hopes he could be a triumph.
It was far from successful.
General view of The Matchroom Stadium,
He played two games for Leeds under the management of Dave Hockaday before suffering a knee injury that required surgery. He did not play for Leeds again, made some headlines off the pitch, and headed back to Italy before he could get comfortable in West Yorkshire.
He went on to join Como for six months before spending time at Ascoli in the second-half of last season.
But he is now back in English football.
General view of The Matchroom Stadium,
He signed for Leyton Orient in September, another club under Italian ownership.
So far, he has not exactly thrived at his new surroundings. He has played just nine minutes in League Two this season and has not played since the Football League Trophy match against Brighton on the 8th November.
So it is fair to say Leeds did not exactly miss out on a superstar in the making with the Slovenian.
