Emile Smith Rowe has told BT Sport that he was saying how Bukayo Saka owed him an assist before Arsenal played against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday evening.
Saka set up Smith Rowe for his first Premier League goal at the weekend, with the young midfielder setting Arsenal on their way to a 3-1 victory.
And Smith Rowe says that it was about time that his Arsenal teammate helped him score.
“I was saying to him before that he had to assist me, I’ve assisted him a few times this season. It was good to get the goal together,” he laughed.
“We are all going to fight for each other until the end.”
Smith Rowe and Saka really have been two of the bright spots to come out of bleak season for Arsenal.
The youngsters have often carried the fight for Arsenal, while more experienced players have struggled.
Saka may well go on to win Arsenal’s Player of the Season award, such is the scale of the impact that he has made.
But Smith Rowe has also really proven his worth since coming into the team at around the turn of the year.
And with Mikel Arteta’s side planning to improve dramatically next year, Arsenal will surely be formulating plans around their young pair.
