Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Real Madrid man in January.

Reports emanating form Italy this morning suggest that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bolster his midfield options in January, and has lined up a move for Real Madrid fringe-man Dani Ceballos, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.
The 21-year-old Spaniard is a wonderful talent, there is no denying that, and his ability on the ball, combined with his impressive engine means that he could fulfil the box-to-box role at Tottenham with aplomb.
If the Lilywhites did go on to sign the Spaniard, what would that mean for Mousa Dembele?

The 30-year-old Belgian is considered to be one of Spurs’ most important players, but there have been signs over the past two years that he has already passed his physical peak.
Injuries have proven to be a constant theme recently for Dembele. He has made just 57 Premier League starts from a possible 91 games since the start of the 2015/16 campaign, and Mauricio Pochettino’s reported interest in Ceballos could spell the end for the Tottenham midfielder.

That doesn’t mean to say that the Argentine would contemplate selling the 30-year-old, who moved to Spurs from Fulham in the summer of 2012, but more so that Dembele would play a peripheral role, should the Spaniard arrive at the club in January or the following summer.
With the opening of the January transfer window just around the corner, this will certainly be one to keep an eye on, and if Tottenham do in fact bring Ceballos to the club, Dembele will be kept on his toes at the very least, with his place in the first-team threatened for arguably the first time since he joined Tottenham.
