The German keeper has fallen out of favour at Liverpool, after having been bought to succeed Simon Mignolet as Number 1.

Liverpool’s lack of cup matches may well be a relief to many fans, who want no more distractions for the Reds as they strive toward a top 4 finish in the Premier League.
For Loris Karius, however, the lack of cup games mean a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The young German keeper has had his fair share of mistakes and responsibility to burden this season.
While many, including Jurgen Klopp, may have expected the 23-year-old signed from Mainz 05 to establish himself quickly as Liverpool’s Number 1, the reality has been slightly different.
After a number of weeks out with a hand injury at the beginning of the season, Karius was already at a slight disadvantage, as his time out had let Simon Mignolet back into the picture.
Later on, following a string of shaky games for Karius, most notably coming up short against Bournemouth in a 4-3 loss, Mignolet was restored to the team and has been there ever since, despite making a few individual errors himself.
It leaves both keepers in an interesting situation. While many fans have claimed that Jurgen Klopp needs to replace at least one keeper in the summer, many will undoubtedly believe that Karius should and will fulfil his potential in the coming months and years at Liverpool. Whether he gets a chance, though, is another story.
