Glasgow Rangers’ deal could have implications for one of their existing players.
For several years Sean Goss and Jordan Rossiter were at rival clubs as they played for the academy sides of Manchester United and Liverpool respectively, but now, temporarily at least, they are set to become teammates at Rangers.
Goss, having struggled for regular playing time at Queens Park Rangers,has today completed a loan move to Rangers, as confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account.
The 22-year-old will hope to feature prominently for Graeme Murty’s side in the second half of the season, but his arrival inevitably causes further questions to be raised regarding Rossiter’s future at Ibrox.
After making one league appearance early in the season, Rossiter has been sidelined with a calf injury since September and is still working his way back towards to full fitness, with it not currently clear exactly when he will return.
Goss will hope to seize his opportunity in the meantime and quickly establish himself as an important part of the Rangers side.
If Goss succeeds in achieving that objective then it could be very difficult for Rossiter to command much playing time even when he is fully sharp.
Rossiter will hope that he can still be a success at Rangers, but if Goss takes his chance and ends up joining on a permanent basis, the ex-Liverpool youngster may well have to leave the Scottish club in order to further his career.
