Pundit Jason Cundy has said that former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Dembele was nothing special.
The £15 million (Bleacher Report) man left Spurs in 2019 but during his time at the club, he was an absolute fan favourite.
However, pundit Jason Cundy believes that the hype around Moussa Dembele was always over the top during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.
Jason Cundy never bought into the Moussa Dembele hype at Tottenham
The Belgian international was renowned for being a complete central midfielder, due to his terrific ball-carrying ability, eye for a pass and excellent duel-winning skills in the middle of the park.
While Dembele was not one to assist and score goals, his impact on the Lilywhites in a deeper role was second to none, as even rival fans largely enjoyed watching him.
However, former Chelsea defender and pundit Jason Cundy believes Moussa Dembele never deserved all the praise he did at Tottenham.

“I thought he was overrated”, he said on talkSPORT.
“A lot of people say this, but here’s the thing about him. He reminds me of Kovacic.
“He reminds me of Kovacic and I’ll tell you why; catches the eye, what did he do in the final third?”
Jamie O’Hara replied, “He played centre-mid. He was a holding midfielder who’d get the ball off the back four. I played against him. He was a lion in midfield.”
HITC View: Moussa Dembele was a gem of a footballer
For pundit Jason Cundy to even have expected Moussa Dembele to produce end product in a Tottenham shirt is a strange demand.
Dembele, much like Kovacic is a controller in the middle of the park and while he may not have put up goal and assist numbers, his overall impact on games was palpable.
Both technically and athletically, the former Fulham midfielder was absolutely top-drawer and it is a pity that a player of his calibre never contended for trophies in the Premier League.
Moussa Dembele, if anything was quite underrated at the time and continues to be a player that deserves a lot more credit.
