The Tottenham Hotspur star put in a great cameo performance in the FA Cup third round today.
Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup today with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.
Spurs dominated for much of the game, but were missing the killer instinct in attack they needed to get the win.
Things started to change when Dele Alli entered the fray.
Tottenham’s Dele Alli on the bench
The in-form star entered the fray for the out-of-sorts Vincent Janssen in the tie and immediately added some guile to the Spurs attack.
His impact was not lost on Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce. He was quoted by talkSPORT after the game as admitting he asked Alli, with tongue in cheek, whether he’d come play for Villa.
This was Alli’s response:
“I asked Dele Alli if he would come and play for us. He said ‘someday Steve I’d love to’ but I think 80 million might be too much for us.

“He certainly changed it for them. He has that quality that really top players have. I wished he had sat on his arse, we might have been better off.”
Aston Villa fans can certainly dream on for now. Tottenham Hotspur know they have a real star on their hands in the form of Alli and they are currently fending off interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG in his services.
Tottenham Hotspur fans will be hoping to see him in action regularly for many years to come. Villa fans will hope he might end up there at the end of what could be an illustrious career.
