Celtic are reportedly trying to bring Lyle Taylor to Glasgow this summer and it might cause a bit of a rift with one of his old team-mates, Rangers star Joe Aribo.
According to Sky Sports, the Hoops are in talks with the 30-year-old attacker as they look to bolster their forward line in an effort to make it harder for the Gers to end their 10-in-a-row quest.
And Taylor just might be game to join Celtic – because he knows what a successful spell in Scotland can do for one’s career after seeing Aribo dazzle at Rangers.
Aribo joined the Ibrox outfit last summer, after helping Charlton Athletic to Championship promotion.
The 24-year-old’s early-season form under Steven Gerrard resulted in a call-up to Nigeria and he scored in an international against Brazil last October.
Taylor would know that success at Celtic could open up doors for him and his career, and here’s what he wrote about Aribo after that goal against the five-time world champions on Twitter:
They both played together with the Addicks, but their friendship would have to be shelved if Taylor does join Neil Lennon’s side.
The Old Firm games between Rangers and Celtic this season will take on an extra significance, because those on the green side of the divide are going for a historic 10 Premiership titles in a row and the head-to-heads might be that bit more full blooded, because of what’s at stake.
