Darren Bent isn’t surprised to see Julian Nagelsmann take the Bayern Munich job, telling talkSPORT (27 April, 9.40am) Tottenham Hotspur had “no chance” of luring the RB Leipzig boss to the Premier League.
It has been eight days since the Jose Mourinho experiment finally ran out of steam for Daniel Levy.
And a week on, Spurs are no closer to finding a replacement. In fact, things appear to be moving further in the wrong direction.
Brendan Rodgers has committed his future to Leicester City while Marcelino Garcia Toral, the demanding, fitness-fanatic Athletic Bilbao coach, made it clear he had “nothing to say” about a move to London.
Nagelsmann, however, was always Levy’s number-one target, according to the Daily Mail.
But perhaps the most exciting young coach in the whole of European football will take over at the reigning European champions instead, with Bayern confirming on their official website a five-year deal has been agreed.
But former Spurs striker Bent never expected Nagelsmann to bring his sharp tactical mind and multicoloured blazers to north London anyway.

“What? No chance!” Bent said when asked whether he thought Tottenham could ever get Nagelsmann.
“He’s going to one of the best teams in world football.”
The Mail believes that with Nagelsmann off the table, Spurs could turn to Erik ten Hag, the 51-year-old Ajax boss who worked with Pep Guardiola during his time at the Allianz Arena.
Like Nagelsmann, Ten Hag is famed for his exciting brand of possession-based attacking football, not to mention superb track record when it comes to improving young players – see Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Donny van de Beek.
