Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is said to be interested in a move to Chelsea.

Danny Rose’s comments to BBC Radio Five Live after Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final last season have added meaning now.

Rose has recently criticised Tottenham in the Sun for their lack of signings, sparking rumours that he could be set to leave the North London club this summer.

Sky Sports suggest that Rose would be open to a switch to Chelsea, if Antonio Conte’s side made a bid.

And Rose’s comments on Chelsea’s team from last season are particularly interesting now.

“You know when you’re saying what do Spurs need? I was sat behind the bench at the FA Cup semi-final and I saw Hazard, Costa and Fabregas,” Rose said. “I thought when they came on we’re in trouble and look what happened. It’s scary.”

Chelsea won the FA Cup semi-final 4-2 against Spurs last term, which effectively ended Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s chances of earning any silverware.

Tottenham will be aiming to win the Premier League title over the upcoming campaign, but Rose’s comments could hardly have come at a worse time.

Tottenham get their season under way tomorrow with a match against Newcastle United, and Rose’s public criticism is only likely to serve as a distraction ahead of the season opener.
