Everton have reportedly received a boost in their alleged quest to sign Thiago Silva on a free transfer this summer.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain have told the central defender that they will not offer him a new contract.
This means that the Brazil international will leave PSG at the end of the month when his current deal with the French giants runs out.
TMW reported on May 23 that Everton have already made an approach to the 35-year-old to secure his services on a free transfer.
The report in the Italian news outlet claimed of interest in Silva from his former club AC Milan as well.
Boost for Everton
With PSG reportedly deciding that they do not want Silva for next season, it certainly boosts Everton’s chances of signing him.
The Brazilian worked with Everton manager Carlo Anceiotti at PSG, and he could be tempted to join the Toffees for a season or two and be part of a team challenging for the Champions League places.
Silva is hugely experienced and a serial winner, and he would make Everton a better and more mature team at the back.
