Newcastle United have once again been linked with a move for Clement Grenier.

Clement Grenier didn’t rule out joining Newcastle United back in 2014, so he may still be keen to move now.

Newcastle were after Grenier four years ago, but had an £11 million bid rejected by Lyon for the midfielder, as reported by the Independent.

Grenier, himself, said he knew little of Newcastle’s interest – but his statement seemingly suggested that he wouldn’t rule out a move to St. James’ Park.

“I don’t know much about it. I read the press and I saw my name written next to Newcastle, but I don’t have more information than this,” Grenier said.

“The transfer window closes on Friday so we’ll see.

“I’ve still got lots of objectives I want to achieve personally and collectively with Lyon. I’m not thinking about the transfer window and transfer rumours.”

In truth, Grenier’s value has fallen over the last four years, and Newcastle are now said to be interested again.

L’Equipe now claim that Newcastle are lining up a £2.65 million bid for the Guingamp midfielder.

Grenier may be even more keen to test himself out at Newcastle, and he could be a great value for money buy.

If Rafael Benitez can keep the Frenchman fit then he looks to have the talent to far surpass his price-tag, and the move could be appealing for both player and club this summer.
