Celtic legend Chris Sutton labelled Scotland’s performance as ‘brave’ after they recorded a draw against Switzerland at Euro 2024.
Steve Clarke’s side suffered a lot of stick after losing their opening game to Germany 5-1 and for hardly even showing any fight during the game.
There were even calls for Celtic captain Callum McGregor to be dropped, but inside 15 minutes, he was assisting Scott McTominay for the game’s opening goal.
The Swiss didn’t take too long to hit back when Xherdan Shaqiri pounced on a mistake to score a stunning effort from outside of the area.
But this was a far better performance from the Scots and they had many chances to win the game over the course of the 90 minutes.
Former Celtic man Chris Sutton was watching on, and during the game, he urged the Scotland manager to bring on James Forrest, as he posted on Twitter.
The Bhoys hero made a return to the international set-up after a strong ending to the season under Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.
Sutton clearly felt that the experience of Forrest was needed, but those calls were ignored, with Clarke forced into a change after the hour mark when Scott McKenna replaced the injured Kieran Tierney.
And his first tactical change was to bring on Kenny McLean for Billy Gilmour, with Forrest yet to taste any minutes during the tournament, so far.
Scotland pick up first point of Euro 2024
“James Forrest needs to come on sharpish…,” said Sutton during the game.
And post-match, he added: “Brave display from Scotland, Still in there fighting. Great recovery after the first game. Bring on Hungary!”
Scotland still in with a chance of progressing at Euro 2024
Forget about the end result for a moment, if the Scots had put up this type of performance against Germany, then the outcome would have been very different.
In the opening game of Euro 2024, they respected their opponents too much, sat back and got eaten alive.

But now this point has kept their hopes alive of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament.
Of course, Scotland will need to beat Hungary in their final game and then hope for the best because you can qualify via a third-place play-off.
