Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has worked with potential Old Firm opponent before.
Steven Gerrard is holding talks with Rangers to replace Graeme Murty, the Scottish Sun report.
Gerrard would be an exciting appointment for Rangers, and a complete gamble at the same time.
He would go up against his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who he almost won the Premier League title with in 2013/14.
Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo: “He has a hunger to learn.
“He has an unswerving commitment to being better and helping others be better which is important and he’s not shy with his work. Those are the sort of fundamentals early on that’s going to make you improve.
“When you’re the manager there will always be elements of the group that won’t like you which is natural. He can deal with that and his leadership has shown that certainly in my time here.”
Rodgers went onto add that he would like to work alongside Gerrard one day, but it appears he could now be set for the very opposite.
Rangers face Celtic this weekend and it could be Graeme Murty’s last throw of the dice to show he deserves to stay as manager.
The minds of the Rangers board may already be made up, but Murty could do Gerrard a favour by recording their first win over Celtic since returning to the top flight and getting past what appears to be a mental block as much as a challenge from a sporting perspective.
