Practice rounds may be the best time to make mistakes, but some may be a little concerned to hear about how Bryson DeChambeau fared on one particular tee at Royal Birkdale ahead of The Open Championship.
There is real pressure on DeChambeau heading into the final major of the year. The LIV Golf star has missed the cut at all three majors so far in 2026.

A major in Australia would be 🔥
And his record at The Open Championship is not a good one. He has never seriously contended to win the Claret Jug, with his two best finishes seeing him start the final round outside of the top 10.
Sir Nick Faldo claimed DeChambeau had no idea how to play links golf. And it seems that he is indeed battling to find the magic formula in Southport.
Bryson DeChambeau struggles in practice at The Open Championship
Journalist James Gray took to social media to comment on following DeChambeau during his practice on Tuesday.
He noted that he had plenty of issues finding the fairway on the third hole.

Gray posted: ‘Spend the day following Bryson DeChambeau around Royal Birkdale ahead of the Open.
‘Third tee, he hit five balls: first two missed right, next two missed left, fifth one in the fairway. As an amateur golfer who has previously hit nine-off-the-tee, I felt very seen.’
Bryson DeChambeau needs to improve his poor first round record at The Open
There are arguably no players in the field with a bigger point to prove than DeChambeau.
LIV Golf is under even more pressure than the two-time US Open champion. And DeChambeau has not played in a tournament since missing the cut at Shinnecock Hills.
It is getting harder and harder to argue that playing on LIV has helped any player in the majors. DeChambeau has most definitely regressed this year.
The concern is that DeChambeau’s record in the opening round of The Open Championship is extremely poor.
His average first round score is just above 74. Meanwhile, in eight first rounds across his career, he has managed to break 74 on just two occasions.
He surely cannot afford to get off to a similar start this time around. Otherwise, the pressure is going to be nearly impossible for DeChambeau to deal with.
