West Ham United striker Michail Antonio couldn’t help but poke fun at his Newcastle United counterpart, Callum Wilson, for passing the ball during a goalscoring opportunity as England beat Iran 6-2 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as he posted on his Instagram story.

With England cruising to a win, Wilson was introduced into the action by Gareth Southgate and he proceeded to burst down the right channel with acres of space in front of him.

Wilson had a clear-cut chance to shoot across the goalkeeper and get himself a goal on his England World Cup debut.

But Newcastle’s star man proceeded to cut the ball across the penalty area to Miguel Almiron’s biggest fan, Jack Grealish, who scored his World Cup debut goal instead.

Both Wilson and Antonio do a weekly podcast together and his fellow podcast teammate had this brilliant message to him after the game yesterday, as he mocked him for his actions.

“Callum, my boy, Cal, Cal Wilson,” smiled Antonio. “Quick appearance and a quick assist, I see. Congratulations on the assist, but bro, why are you trying to beat me so much?

“Bruv, last year before the pod, you take the shot. You take the shot and you don’t get no assist there. You get the goal. What are you doing? Don’t be me. Be yourself. Congratulations. Great win. Congratulations England.”

GREALISH PLAYING LIKE ALMIRON

Miguel Almiron has been scoring goals for fun on the Premier League stage this season and Grealish has been mocked for not being able to match him given his previous comments.

But it’s a bit ironic that it’s taken a Newcastle player for Grealish to score one of his biggest-ever goals, in terms of the stage he is on.

Nonetheless, huge credit should go to Wilson who could have scored the biggest goal of his career, yet he choose to think of his teammates instead, hopefully, Gareth Southgate has noted that down.
