Some Arsenal fans are not very happy with Lucas Torreira.
The Gunners’ faithful watched on with disgust on Friday night as Mikel Arteta’s side kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat by newly-promoted Brentford.
It wasn’t only the result that’s worrying for Arsenal, but also the performance as the Bees played their London rivals off the park.
One Arsenal player who was neither in attendance or even watching the game was Torreira.
Instead, the Uruguay international and his family were at Parque Warner Madrid – a theme park in the Spanish capital – and Torreira posted a photo of the occasion on Twitter, while the Emirates Stadium club were losing.
And suffice to say that some Arsenal fans weren’t too pleased with the timing.
Gone
Everybody knows that Torreira is not physically at Arsenal, because he’s in Spain.
But mentally he isn’t there either and it speaks volumes that the 25-year-old – who joined the club in 2018 – lacked the awareness to realise that it wasn’t a good idea to update his socials while Arteta’s side were losing a match that they should not have been losing, as far as status goes.
The South American spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid but struggled to impress Diego Simeone.
It remains to be seen who’ll he join this summer but this tweet is evidence that emotionally, he has no attachment to the club any longer.
