Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League clash between Liverpool and Benfica at Anfield.

Once again, the £192,307-a-week man has expressed his frustration at the fixture list, with the games coming thick and fast for Liverpool.

What’s the story?

Well, Klopp seems quite annoyed that the Reds have to play five games in 17 days, including a 12:30pm kick-off away to Newcastle on Saturday 30th April.

As quoted by Sky Sports, the 54-year-old said: “The schedule, and how people use the fame in the moment – Liverpool is hot and everyone wants to see them – they couldn’t care less, the TV stations. It’s just not OK.

“If we play a Champions League Semi-Final, find me another league in the world and another broadcaster who would put the one team in the Semi-Finals – it might be two or three English teams – on at 12.30. It’s like: ‘Throw them a little stick between the legs!’ What? What are you doing?”

Clearly, Klopp feels the likes of Sky Sports and BT Sport can do more to make life easier for Liverpool as they attempt to win the quadruple.

In truth, five games in 17 days is unbelievably demanding at this level.

That equates to a game every 3.4 days, and each one is hugely important.

Liverpool face Manchester City in the FA Cup Semi-Final on Saturday after playing Benfica tonight, before clashes with Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle.

Jürgen Klopp & Liverpool must get on with it

In our view, this is just part and parcel of being one of Europe’s best teams.

There will always be lots of fixtures to contend with when you’re trying to win a quadruple – that’s just the way it is at the highest level.

Of course, the TV broadcasters could maybe do more to space these games out, but Liverpool have the squad depth to deal with the congested schedule.

Rotation will be key, and despite his obvious frustration, Klopp has more than enough experience to navigate Liverpool through this tricky period.
